OMORI and his friends are shown on the four corners of the screen. The heart meter shows how hearty you are. Don't let your HEART drop to 0... or else you'll be TOAST.
The JUICE meter shows how much juice you have. Juice is needed to use SKILLS. During battle, you can ATTACK enemies using your weapon. SOme weapons might do cool stuff when you attack with them.You can also use skills. These are special abilities that help you in battle. Most skills use up juice, so be careful or else you might run out.
Pocket lets you use items like toys or consumables. Items can help your friends, damage enemies, and even change emotions.
If the fight's too difficult or you're in a rush, you can RUN AWAY. If you do, you will leave the battle immediately. However, there are some things you can't run away from.
Friends and enemies can be affected by emotion. Emotions can be changed by using a skill or item during battle. Different emotions have different effects and last for a few turns.
When you're ANGRY, your ATTACK goes up, but your DEFENSE goes down. When you're SAD, your defense gets higher, but your attack lowers. When you're happy, your CRITICAL HIT chance rises, but your ACCURACY drops.
Effects of SKILLS and ITEMS can change depending on the emotion of the target. Some ATTACKS do more damage to enemies feeling certain EMOTIONS.
When you or your friend's attack hits an enemy, you can choose to FOLLOW-UP. Bubbles will show up next to the attacking party member. Press any of these arrow keys to FOLLOW-UP with another effect. You only have a few seconds or else you'll miss your chance. You can't follow up all the time, though. You and your friends need ENERGY. Every battle starts off with you and your friends at 3 ENERGY. Your party's ENERGY goes up by 1 for every time someone gets hit. FOLLOW-UPS usually cost 3 ENERGY, but you can save up to 10.
